An urban explorer has unearthed a time capsule home and a cache of vintage cars deep in the woods in Georgia.
The abandoned treasure trove dating back to the early 20th Century was uncovered by adventurer Leland Kent.
He found the house, owned by a classic car collector, frozen in time. The former owner, who appears to have left in a hurry, left behind five vintage cars including a Cadillac and a Packard, a grand piano and the forgotten home.
Kent, from Florida, uncovered the remarkable find through his own meticulous research, unraveling the history of the abandoned home which he thinks was last lived in during 2008.
He said the property had an unusual layout, with attached rooms rather than a central hallway. He said it had been left as someone was due to arrive home at any time. The house is still full of furniture, paintings and personal items. The bedrooms have four poster beds and antique dressers. The bathroom even has a towel and handwash still there waiting to be used.
The living room houses the immaculate Frederick Mathushek piano, a timeless piece that could fetch thousands in today’s market. On eBay there is another piano from Mathushek up for sale for $65,000.
It was outside where Kent struck gold, where he found a haul of vintage cars. Despite the layers of dust and dirt, these relics remain in surprisingly good condition, sitting there frozen in time.
Kent told NeedToKnow.co.uk: “The place sits deep in the woods of rural Georgia. According to property records, the home dates to the early 20th century, although it appears it could be much older.
“In the kitchen, there is a calendar dated 2008, which gives some indication of when the house was last occupied.
“In the small, detached garage behind the house are a Packard and Cadillac sedan, as well as a few old Buicks.”
In Kent’s photos, the Buicks are captured covered in debris from a rotting garage roof, but the Packard and Cadillac appear to be in mint condition.
