Black Bear‘s management arm has signed “Flightplan” and “RED” director Robert Schwentke for representation. In a decades-long career, Schwentke has moved between indie productions, franchise fare and action and adventure films.
His war drama, “The Captain,” premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival to critical acclaim, going on to win multiple awards, including the FIPRESCI Prize at the Vilnius International Film Festival. It was nominated for five categories at the 2018 German Film Awards.
Schwentke’s other directing credits include “Snake Eyes,” the third installment in the “G.I. Joe” film series, for Paramount Pictures; “Insurgent” and “Allegiant,” the second and third installments of the blockbuster “Divergent” series for Lionsgate, which together grossed over $475 million worldwide; and “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” with Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams, for Warner Bros. He also directed “RED,” starring Helen Mirren, Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman, which grossed $200 million globally and received a Golden Globe nomination for best motion picture – musical or comedy, as well as “Flightplan,” which starred Jodie Foster and grossed $225 million worldwide. Schwentke is currently in post-production on the action-thriller “Control” for StudioCanal and The Picture Company, starring Oscar winner Julianne Moore and James McAvoy.
