New York based distributor Dekanalog has made three new acquisitions for its 2025 theatrical slate: “Hema Hema: Sing Me a Song While I Wait” by Khyentse Norbu, “Redlands” by John Brian King and “Wetiko” by Kerry Mondragon.

The films will have limited theatrical engagements before receiving video-on-demand and physical media releases.

“Our goal at Dekanalog has always been to raise the visibility of underseen, independent and international cinema to a North American audience, and being able to launch this trio of truly incredible films in cinemas this year is a dream come true for all of us,” Lysa Le, the company’s co-founder, said in a statement.

“Hema Hema: Sing Me a Song While I Wait” premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2016 and also played at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it garnered a Platform Prize honorable mention. The film follows a gathering in a Bhutanese forest that occurs every twelve years between people wearing masks. A Variety review stated that “it’s easy to appreciate the beauty of the forested locale, shot in Bhutan’s southeast, at times dappled with sunlight and at others, darkly menacing.”

“Redlands” is a 2014 film that traces the interconnected experiences of three Redlands, Calif. residents: a model, her boyfriend and a photographer. “Wetiko,” a 2022 film, centers on a Maya man making a delivery of hallucinogenic toads in the jungle and landing into a conflict between the Mayas and a Western group.

Dekanalog’s slate for 2025 also includes releasing the film “Blue Sun Palace” in theaters throughout April and May.
