Kevin Bacon joined Variety for a game of “Know Their Lines?” and revealed that a dead body was discovered during the making of his 1998 erotic thriller “Wild Things.”

“We were out in the swamp one night — a lot of mosquitoes, wow — and we were shooting some scene, I don’t remember what it was, by kind of a river,” Bacon explained. “They had floated a raft out there so that they could put out a light.”

“All of a sudden I hear across the walkie-talkie: ‘Hey, uh, I think I just saw a floater.’ And it was a body that was floating by,” the actor continued. “It was kind of indicative of the vibe of the movie.”

“Wild Things” starred Denise Richards and Neve Campbell as teenagers who recruit their high school guidance counselor (Matt Dillon) to help them scam their way into getting a trust settlement from one of their mothers. Bacon played Ray Duquette, the police detective who suspects the trio are trying to pull off a crime. The movie was directed by John McNaughton, who previously told Entertainment Weekly that law enforcement was called to the set upon the discovery of the dead body.

“We called the police, and they actually grabbed the body and kept it from getting into our shot,” the director said.

Bacon has been making the press rounds in support of his new Prime Video horror series “The Bondsman,” in which he stars as a recently-murdered bondsman recruited by Satan to use his tracking skills to hunt down and kill demons who have escaped from the underworld. The project joins “Maxxxine” as the latest Bacon-backed horror title.

“It’s life and death. Stakes are high,” the actor told Variety about his love for the genre. “I also feel like, as a consumer, I like to share that experience with people in the theater where we’re like, ‘Oh fuck!’ and everybody jumps at the same time, and everybody laughs about the fact that they jumped at the same time. That’s just a great shared experience. It’s similar to a comedy in that it’s a genre that’s great to share with people.”
