Known for his high-concept, visually-distinctive style, Director X has helmed more than a hundred iconic music videos, collaborating with chart-topping artists including Drake (“Hotline Bling,” “Started From the Bottom”), Rihanna (“Work,” “Pon de Replay”), Rosalía (“La Fama,” “Con Altura”), Kendrick Lamar (“King Kunta”) and Justin Bieber (“Boyfriend”). He won a Juno and a BET Award for his work and has been nominated for numerous other prizes, including a Grammy nod for Future and Drake’s “Life Is Good” music video.
In television, he directed episodes of Nat Geo’s “Genius: MLK/ X,” featuring Aaron Pierre as Malcolm X and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as Amazon’s blockbuster action series “Cross,” starring Aldis Hodge. He directed a block of the Hulu and LuckyChap’s limited series “Mike,” about famed boxer Mike Tyson (also a Paradigm client), as well as the pilot and first episode of the Netflix vampire thriller “October Faction” and two episodes of “The Imperfects.”
Director X crossed into features with Sony Pictures’ “Superfly” and the hockey drama “Across the Line.” Next up, he’s attached to direct “The Drowning” for Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment.
Outside of his work in media, Director X is the founder of Operation Prefrontal Cortex, an initiative created to reduce gun violence in his native Toronto through mindfulness and meditation.
In addition to Paradigm, Director X is managed by Range Media Partners.
