Jenna Bush Hager revealed that she previously tried to set up Hoda Kotb with Lenny Kravitz.
During Friday’s episode of “Today with Jenna and Friends,” Bush Hager and her guest co-host Tyra Banks were gushing about the rockstar when Bush Hager called out her former co-host.
“There was a period where I was trying to set Hoda up with him, because she –– like every other woman in the world –– finds him irresistible,” Bush Hager confessed.
The former first daughter, 43, explained that she tried to work her matchmaker magic with her former “Today” co-host, 60, when Kravitz, also 60, appeared on the “Today” show in September 2024.
“He was wearing like a mesh top and leather pants, and I was, like, trying to set them up,” she spilled.
However, after getting to know Kravitz, Bush Hager realized that he was “so friendly” that it felt like she was “setting up [her] uncle with Hoda.”
“Lenny looks so edgy, but he is so normal,” Banks agreed. “It’s weird, because he looks all like, ‘Hey what’s up baby? How you doin’?’ But he’s like, ‘Hey! How’s your mom?’ And it’s like he’s a dad.”
Bush Hager originally threw out Kotb’s name into the mix in front of the “Today” show crowd before he performed outside Rockefeller Center last fall.
“Are you looking for love?” Bush Hager asked in front of both Kotb and Kravitz.
After Kravitz playfully replied that he’s “always” looking for love, Bush Hager told him, “Well I know of an electric lady if you want her number! She’s right here!”
Kotb giggled about the setup and later joked about it by pointing out that she purposely wore leather to match his rocker vibe.
“I decided that if you’re going to have Lenny Kravitz on the plaza — who by the way, is he not the epitome of all of the things?” Kotb told Bush Hager later on in the same episode.
Kotb added, “He’s hot, he’s kind. He’s got it all. He lives in the Bahamas, he’s barefoot, he makes music, he meditates…”
Bush Hager has some matchmaking experience, as she set up Kotb with her last mystery man in the spring of 2024. However, Kotb later shared that she stopped seeing the mystery man after three dates because she was looking for more “simplicity.”
“This person, who’s a lovely human being, has a lot of things that are being worked out,” she explained in an August 2024 episode of “The Jamie Kern Lima Show.”
“[We are] all good. He’s very cute, by the way, extremely handsome. I’ll show you a picture after, but tabled for now,” she clarified.
Meanwhile, Kotb has taken a step away from the spotlight ever since she left the “Today” show in January.
