John Stamos got caught up in backlash after photos of him emceeing an event at Donald Trump‘s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., circulated online. The “Full House” star’s appearance confused fans, as he’s often supported Democratic policies in the past and even appeared to post in support of Kamala Harris during last year’s presidential election against Trump. Has Stamos suddenly gone MAGA? Not so fast. The actor took to his Instagram to explain his appearance at Mar-a-Lago and stress that his “values and political views remain unchanged.”

“I accepted the invitation to emcee the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala, an evening dedicated to honoring and uplifting our frontline heroes,” Stamos wrote on his Instagram story. “This nonpartisan event supports The Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations, a 501(c)(3) organization that trains 350-400 nurses every year, directly addressing the critical shortage of healthcare professionals in Palm Beach County.”

“Supporting nurses isn’t political — it’s essential,” he continued. “These are the people who care for us and our families when we need it most, and I believe we should show up for them with the same unwavering dedication they show up with every single day. I stand by the importance of healthcare, of service, and of investing in those who care for our communities. My values and political views remain unchanged.”

According to USA Today: The event at Mar-a-Lago “also included appearances from former ‘Dancing With the Stars’ pro dancers Artem Chigvintsev and Karina Smirnoff. The event was co-chaired by Linda Adelson and Janet Levy, who both share ties with the president.”

Stamos recently popped up in an episode of ABC’s “Doctor Odyssey” and the Hulu comedy series “Unprisoned.” Read his post on his Mar-a-Lago gig below.
