Netflix is once again hosting a showcase of up-and-coming comedians for its annual Netflix Is a Joke Festival.
Dubbed “Introducing…,” the showcase will feature 10 stand-ups who will each perform a 5-7 minute set across two shows in one night. The event takes place on May 8 at the Avalon in Hollywood, with showtimes at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
The sets will be recorded and edited, and then uploaded to Netflix Is a Joke’s YouTube channel and social platforms.
The lineup includes Amber Autry, a Nashville-based comic who came up at Second City in Chicago; Ari Matti Mustonen, an Estonian-born comic who is a recurring member of Tony Hinchcliffe’s “Kill Tony”; and Eva Evans, who hails from Brooklyn and Jamaica and regularly performed at Riker’s Island.
There’s also Kam Patterson, another regular on “Kill Tony”; Milan Patel, a Los Angeles-based comic who performed at last year’s Netflix Is a Joke; Nick Murphy, who often performs at Atlanta’s Punchline Comedy Club and Laughing Skull Lounge; and Ray Lau, a Cantonese American comedian who recently recorded a secret set for Don’t Tell Comedy.
Plus, Zoe Zakson, an L.A.-based stand-up who has opened for Mekki Leeper since August 2024; Alex Song-Xia, who was a staff writer on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and story editor on “Rick & Morty”; and Ruby Setnik, a Sacramento-born comic now working in New York.
Netflix Is a Joke Festival took place in 2022 and 2024. Netflix has yet to release additional details on upcoming festival programming.
