The eagerly anticipated fourth season of Prime Video‘s “Panchayat” has been set as the popular Indian comedy-drama celebrates its fifth anniversary since its 2020 debut.

Created by The Viral Fever (TVF), the series has built a devoted following over its first three acclaimed seasons, with its signature blend of rural charm, relatable characters, and heartfelt storytelling. The upcoming installment promises to continue the slice-of-life adventures in the fictional village of Phulera.

“Panchayat” follows Abhishek, an engineering graduate who accepts a job as secretary at a village panchayat (council) office in rural Uttar Pradesh, northern India, due to limited career opportunities. Season 4 will see the character and Phulera’s colorful residents tackling new challenges with the show’s trademark humor and poignancy.

Deepak Kumar Mishra returns to direct the series from scripts by Chandan Kumar. The full ensemble cast is confirmed to be back, including Jitendra Kumar as Abhishek, the reluctant panchayat secretary, alongside veterans Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, and Sanvikaa.

“Panchayat” joins Prime Video India’s growing slate of returning hits, which includes other successful local originals like “Mirzapur,” “The Family Man,” and “Made in Heaven.” Prime Video has set a July 2 premiere date for the new season.

Among returning favorites, “Mirzapur” not only has Season 4 in development but will also expand to theaters with a film slated for 2026. And coming-of-age comedy “Call Me Bae” has been greenlit for a second season.

The continued success of “Panchayat” encouraged Prime Video to commission another northern India rural-set comedy-drama, “Dupahiya,” which launched in March. The Hindi-language series, which became a hit with its blend of sharp humor and small-town charm, is now officially in development for a sophomore run after captivating both audiences and critics with its debut season.
