The final work of art from renowned architect Pierre Koenig is up for sale in California.
The masterpiece, with its yellow spiral staircase, his famed floor to ceiling windows and metal columns, is on the market for £3.57 million.
Koenig designed the most iconic and most photographed house in the world – Stahl House in Hollywood Hills, and became one of the most recognisable names in California modernism. The American born phenomenon helped to define Modern architecture as we know it today.
Koenig worked as a professor at University of Southern California from 1964 to his death in 2004.
His final work of art, The Schwartz House, is a three floor, four-bedroom property in Santa Monica. It embraces everything Koenig become famous for – metalwork and huge glass windows throughout.
The 2,390 sq ft house, just half a mile from Ginger Rogers Beach and Rustic Canyon Park, has three bathrooms, small balconies off each room and large win dows all the way through so natural light floods in. There is a covered patio under the steel columns and a stunning garden.
Locals include Tom Cruise, Tobey Maguire, Jamie Lee Curtis and Bruno Mars, downtown is a just a short drive away and the new residents can enjoy a choice of more than 30 Michelin-star restaurants in the area.
The Schwartz House is now for sale for £3.57m ($4.55m).
