Spring is the ideal time to refresh your denim wardrobe, but with so many silhouettes and washes in the mix, it can be hard to know where to start — or figure out what works best for your body type and personal style, for that matter.
“I always tell my clients that trying on jeans is almost as bad as trying on swimwear,” Bloomingdale’s personal shopper Stacey Oliver (@ShopWithStacey) tells Page Six Style, adding that comparison shopping is key to finding the right fit.
“Coming into the store, having someone like me — a personal shopper who knows exactly what’s going to work for you — it will alleviate so much [of the] stress of trying on 100 pairs of jeans.”
Below, discover all the spring 2025 denim trends that are currently on Oliver’s radar. And if you’d like to book a free session with a stylist either in-store or virtually, check out Bloomingdale’s Styling Services.
Wide-leg jeans
Skinnies not your style? Don’t worry: Wide-leg denim’s not going anywhere. And while low-slung and slouchy silhouettes are particularly trendy this season, Oliver’s partial to pairs with a slightly higher rise.
“If you’re not quite into the baggy [look], this keeps you still on trend,” she says.
Shop Oliver’s pick:
Rag & Bone Logan Featherweight High Rise Wide Leg Jeans
“The fabric is really lightweight and soft,” Oliver says of this easy, breezy option — and unlike Rag & Bone’s viral sweatpant jeans, they have a “true finished front” with a zipper and button closure, so they’re a bit more polished.
Flared jeans
If Kendrick Lamar’s viral Super Bowl halftime blues weren’t enough to convince you, flared jeans are back in a big way. But forget about exaggerated ’70s bell-bottoms and the dangerously low-rise bootcut pairs of the early aughts; this time around, the silhouette’s subtler, not to mention incredibly flattering.
“They really snatch everything up top and then give you that longer-legged look,” Oliver says.
Shop Oliver’s pick:
Frame Le Slim Palazzo Modernist Pocket Jeans
“The dark wash is really nice for a night out, and it’ll take you into the fall; it really is a seasonless wash,” Oliver says. “And I like that it doesn’t have any distressing or anything; the fashion detail is the pocket in the front.”
Dark-wash jeans
This spring, think beyond basic blue; jeans in ultra-dark indigo, charcoal or black will make a sophisticated impact.
“You need to build a denim wardrobe, [and] black is something that I always recommend to my clients,” Oliver says. “You can wear it to the office, you can wear it in your personal life. It’s a really versatile piece to have that you can dress up and down.”
Shop Oliver’s pick:
L’Agence Scottie High Rise Wide Leg Jeans
“[These] also come in different washes of denim, but I think the black is a great addition to anyone’s wardrobe,” Oliver says.
Cuffed jeans
Wide-leg styles with a single cuff feel especially fresh right now; Oliver tells us they look just as good with a T-shirt and sneakers as “with a little flat and a blazer” at the office.
Shop Oliver’s pick:
Mother The Dodger Button Hover Cuff Jeans
“[A] light wash is a must-have for spring/summer,” Oliver says.
Denim on denim
“Denim is not just about jeans,” says Oliver. With double denim emerging as a major spring trend, consider adding an indigo dress, skirt, jacket or accessory to your closet.
Shop Oliver’s pick:
Coach Chain Tabby Small Washed Denim Shoulder Bag
Match your favorite jeans to this denim take on Coach’s beloved Tabby bag.
Denim shorts
Jorts lovers, rejoice! Whether you’re feeling classic cutoffs or something longer and more tailored, you can’t go wrong with denim that shows a little (or a lot of) leg.
Shop Oliver’s pick:
Frame The Timeless High Rise Shorts
“One of my go-to brands for clients is Frame; they have incredible denim,” Oliver says.
