The project, designed by the architectural and urban planning studio Piuarch, places greenery at the heart of its concept, creating a space that is both calming and invigorating. The building, still under construction, is centered around people, relationships, and a new way of working, blending seamlessly with its surroundings to promote urban regeneration and sustainability.
The Symbiosis project is an innovative urban regeneration initiative developed by Covivio, a renowned French real estate developer. It focuses on sustainability, aiming to reduce emissions, improve air quality, and create more livable cities, aligning with the European Sharing Cities initiative. Piuarch, the Milan-based studio behind the design, was founded in 1996 by Francesco Fresa, Germán Fuenmayor, Gino Garbellini, and Monica Tricario. The Snam headquarters is situated between Via Condino and Via Vezza d’Oglio, occupying a total area of approximately 19,000 square meters. The building consists of three overlapping volumes spread across 14 floors, offering a variety of spaces designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and innovation. These include flexible offices, social interaction areas, and spaces for brainstorming and relaxation, all intended to ensure the well-being of the 1,000 employees who will work there. The design emphasizes the importance of community and connection, creating an environment that encourages interaction and collaboration while also providing moments of tranquility and reflection.
One of the most striking features of the building is its integration with nature. The headquarters boasts a green roof and a greenhouse spanning the seventh and eighth floors, while the surrounding area includes an 8,500-square-meter park. This park, designed in collaboration with landscape architect Antonio Perazzi, features an open-air “verzura” theater that will host educational activities and events, open to the public. The park’s design includes a lush forest along the site’s perimeter, creating a natural canopy that offers shaded areas for relaxation and contemplation.
