A little-known airline that few people have heard of has been crowned the most punctual carrier in the UK. Emerald Airlines won the accolade in new research released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). In the last three months of 2024, 83 per cent of the regional carrier’s flights took off on time, beating Ryanair (66.25 per cent), easyJet (67 per cent), British Airways (67 per cent) and Wizz Air (69 per cent). The winning airline is the exclusive carrier for Aer Lingus’ regional services and operates out of Belfast City Airport. Emerald Airlines operated 15,823 flights from Belfast in 2024, taking passengers across the UK to destinations such as Glasgow, Leeds, Edinburgh and Newquay. Customers awarded the popular airline four out of five stars for customer service, booking, cleanliness and value for money. Wizz Air was the worst performing airline, scoring just two stars across all of the categories. Singapore Airlines was crowned the best long-haul airline for 2025, with an ‘impressive’ customer score of 80 per cent.
