Lisa Tomlinson-Cowie, a nursing associate with a flair for the dramatic, embraces a unique role during the festive season – transforming into a ‘real-life’ elf. Her enthusiasm for Christmas and background in local theatre, where she often stars in pantomimes and musicals, complements her seasonal transformation.
Despite the demanding nature of her nursing career, 47-year-old Lisa, from Stockton-on-Tees, eagerly accepted an offer from a theatre colleague to become a Christmas elf, dubbing this venture “The National Elf Service.”
Speaking to NeedToKnow.co.uk, Lisa shared, “I jumped at the chance to return to what I love, with an added sprinkle of holiday spirit. At work, my colleagues are amazed at my elf alter-ego. My children, who cherish Christmas, are thrilled about their mother’s role as Santa’s aide.”
Dressed in traditional elf attire – red, green, white, and adorned with rosy cheeks and plaited hair – Lisa dedicates her weekends to spreading joy at a local farm. She engages children, guides visitors to the hot chocolate stand, and plays a key part in the workshop.
“In the workshop, I guide children in creating stuffed toys, replicating a scene straight from festive films. Admittedly, improvising can be challenging as I strive to keep the fantasy alive, but I’m embracing the learning curve,” she explained.
Lisa is determined to continue her “secret” elf role, aiming to bring festive joy for many more years.
She concluded, “My passion for spreading holiday cheer and embodying the season’s spirit is unwavering. By day, I’m a nurse, but winter transforms me into a proud elf – and it’s equally fulfilling.”
