Slow down! Hikers have been left bemused after finding a speed camera on a mountain trail in France.
The huge camera was discovered plonked on a remote path on Mount Baigura in the French Basque Country.
It is reported that the camera was initially installed by French authorities on the remote and extreme mountain pass of the Route 918 – a road famed as a route often used in the Tour de France near the Spanish border.
Locals and hikers are bewildered as to how the camera ended up on an isolated grassy track just before the peak of a mountain, but it is suspected that pranksters might be to blame.
One local commented: “Excellent location.”
Another joked: “It will flash the flying woodpigeons!”
