The beautifully renovated piece of British history, which dates back to 1789, has been restored with a clever combination of original features and modern luxury.
The windmill, in Sutton, Norfolk, which was originally built as a corn mill, was transformed into a windmill in 1861 after a fire. It was finally taken out of action in 1940 after a lightning strike. The impressive building, which is also the second tallest windmill in Europe and is surrounded by the stunning Norfolk countryside, was then turned into a museum from 1975 until it closed its doors in 2008. A private buyer turned the windmill into a luxurious family home after buying it at auction in 2018.
The renovation is spectacular. There are exposed beams and brickwork throughout, keeping the authenticity of the building. On the entrance floor there is an open plan living arrangement, which stretches the length of the building, including a living room, dining room and a kitchen with four ovens. There is a separate television room on this floor and stairs that lead down to the basement.
The two lower levels have been transformed into a home gym and play room.
