A family is alive today because of a ‘hero’ toddler’s first words.Three-year-old Aiden was the first to wake up to the smell of thick smoke filling the Los Angeles home. He ran into his parents’ room and tugged on their blankets while repeatedly shouting one of the few words he knows: ‘Fire! Fire! Fire!’He also told his parents that ‘something smelled funny’ inside the home, according to fire crews. His parents woke up and along with Aiden’s four-month-old baby sister the family fled the burning house. ‘By that time, the house was already black with smoke,’ Aiden’s grandfather, Abel Sanchez. told The Los Angeles Times. ‘The fire must have just started when he got out of bed and went over to wake up his mom.’ Sanchez, 57, described Aiden as ‘our family hero.’The incident happened at around 8:20pm Wednesday in El Sereno, a neighborhood northeast of downtown Los Angeles.Aiden’s grandparents, both of whom live in the house, at work when the boy woke up in their room to the smell smoke.’He was alone and must have noticed that something wasn’t right,’ Sanchez said.
