President Donald Trump headed to Florida Thursday and gave a sunny outlook when asked ‘how it’s going’ after markets crashed thanks to his reciprocal tariff announcement. ‘I think it’s going very well. It was an operation. Like when a patient gets operated on and it’s a big thing. I said this would exactly be the way it is,’ the president told reporters on the South Lawn. He claimed that ‘six or seven trillion’ dollars would be coming into country. By lunchtime the Dow had dropped 1,400 points. ‘The markets are going to boom, the stock is going to boom, the country is going to boom and the rest of the world wants to see if there’s any way they can make a deal,’ the president continued. He then complained: ‘They’ve taken advantage of us for many, many years.”You’ll see how it’s going to turn out, our country’s going to boom,’ he reiterated. Trump then walked solo to Marine One, followed by Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and his body man Walt Nauta. President Donald Trump painted a sunny picture after the markets crashed Thursday thanks to his tariff announcement the day before Presidnt Donald Trump waves off further questions as he headed to Florida Thursday afternoon for a dinner marking the LIV Golf tournament at his Miami golf course Trotting behind them was embattled National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, who had three staffers fired Thursday after right-wing MAGA figure Laura Loomer got in Trump’s ear and called for National Security Council firings. Trump is headed to his Trump National Doral Miami where he’ll appear at a dinner kickoff for a LIV Golf event. The president explained to reporters that the dinner was for ‘charity’ and he would be back to Washington ‘pretty quickly.’ On Wednesday, Trump announced reciprocal tariffs to nations around the world to great fanfare. He assembled Congressional allies, Cabinet members and workers – complete with hard hats – at the White House Rose Garden for so-called ‘Liberation Day.’ Countries around the world will be hit with at least a 10 percent tariff on their imports with some reaching a whopping 50 percent. The tariffs are being levied based on ‘barriers to entry.’ That means the European Union will be hit with 20 percent tariffs because it charges a 39 percent tariff on America, according to the White House’s figures. The U.K., on the other hand, got off relatively easy. Since it only charges the U.S. a 10 percent tariff, it will pay 10 percent in return, the White House said. China will pay a 34 percent tariff, with the White House calculating that the U.S. pays 67 percent when currency manipulation is factored in. ‘My fellow Americans, this is liberation day, we’ve been waiting for a long time,’ Trump proclaimed. ‘In a few moments, I will sign a historic executive order instituting reciprocal tariffs on countries throughout the world.’ Markets, in turn, reacted dramatically – making a nosedive. The betting site Polymarket on Thursday put the chances of a U.S. recession at more than 50 percent.
