— x – Colorado Avalanche (@Avalanche) April 9, 2025Landeskog was first injured during the 2020 playoffs when Cale Makar’s skate blade swung into Landeskog, slicing him above his knee. He underwent a small procedure but was still in pain during the 2021-22 season. He then had knee surgery in March 2022 and returned for the playoffs, during which the pain set in again. Landeskog eventually had cartilage transplant surgery in May 2023.“I understand I’m probably not going to skate completely pain-free again, but I want to be able to get to a point where I can at least manage it and then make a decision for myself and see where we end up,” Landeskog told The Athletic’s Peter Baugh in March.Landeskog publicly shared his recovery journey in “A Clean Sheet,” a docuseries airing on TNT and TruTV that takes viewers through the aftermath of his surgery. The 32-year-old forward is in the fourth season of an eight-year, $56 million contract. Colorado drafted him with the No. 2 pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, and he was named captain of the Avalanche in September 2012, becoming the youngest captain in NHL history at 19 years and 286 days.Landeskog posted 30 goals and 59 points in 51 games in 2021-22 and added 11 goals and 22 points in 20 playoff games.(Photo: Harry How / Getty Images)
