Warner Bros. Discovery’s former spokesperson Nathaniel Brown has been hired to serve TikTok‘s global corporate communications chief.
He’s based in New York and reports to Zenia Mucha, who was appointed to the newly formed role of chief brand and communications officer in 2023. Her team is responsible for TikTok’s global marketing and communications strategies.
“I’m happy to announce we’ve hired a new global head of corporate comms,” Mucha, who spent two decades as Disney’s top spokesperson before exiting in 2021 during the tenure of Bob Chapek, wrote in a note to staff. “Nathaniel Brown joins us today to lead this important function.”
Brown, who ran PR for Discovery and then Warner Bros. Discovery once the two companies merged in 2022, was the top communications official for CEO David Zaslav. A respected communications veteran, Brown exited his post in 2024 after a five-year stint. During his time at the company, he was responsible for overseeing the PR strategy for Max’s relaunch after HBO Max and Discovery+ combined their streaming services. Prior to joining Discovery in 2019, Brown worked at 21st Century Fox as senior VP of corporate affairs and media relations for eight years.
TikTok faces a ban in the United States if the social media app isn’t sold to a non-Chinese owner by April 5. The popular app, owned by China’s ByteDance, briefly went dark in January before President Donald Trump signed an executive order to stall the ban.
In other executive news, TikTok also announced on Monday that Blake Chandlee, who led global business solutions, will be leaving the company in April. Chandlee wrote in a note to staff, “You are building history. Books will be written about this company, stories of how clients are better for our efforts and creators and SMBs [small and medium-sized businesses] alike have had their lives changed. Remember, there is only one TikTok, enjoy the ride.”
